SIMAD University data centers shall be well guarded and put under surveillance throughout. Any person in whichever position seeking to access the data center for any reason shall be required to seek prior authorization from the director ICT services who shall specify the level of system access in writing. The ICT administrator or designated ICT resource owner must be present during this access duration to witness and monitor all activities undertaken by the person so authorized. Such a provision shall apply during maintenance or replacement of appliances in the ICT resources
Practical works requiring access and utilization of data centres should be executed during university working hours unless otherwise stated or in special cases approved by the Director of ICT services or the University management.
University staff or guest with interest in visiting University data center shall be required to get prior permission for a tour on the centre. This tour shall be under the guidance of the ICT administrator upon the approval by the Director of ICT services
Any unplanned and urgent access to SIMAD University data center shall obtain authorization from the Director ICT services.
Bandwidth Management Policy
Every staff is responsible for all traffic generated by his/her computer.
SIMAD University shall reserve all rights, regulate and monitor all networks connected to appliances and other ICT resources to ensure compliance with the ICT policy and other applicable regulations
The ICT office shall monitor bandwidth usage
Bandwidth quotas shall be applied to all traffic passing between staff computers and the Internet via the SIMAD University’s link to the University network.
Bandwidth quotas are not applied to any traffic passing between student computers and computers on the SIMAD University Data Network (e.g. the University web servers).
